Hello Sweetie Pies! I have missed you all and have missed blogging. We have been very busy having a fabulous Autumn with family and friends.  I have been over on Facebook  posting lots of gorgeous Fall Fashion, recipes and hangover remedies!! But I am happy to back here posting and sharing some pretty little things at The Paris House.  We have been traveling a bit and spending a lot of time in Manhattan and at our glorious local Farms and Cider Mills.  I have been checking off that list I posted about all the things I want to do this Autumn, and have been enjoying every single day of this glorious season. I mean seriously have you seen that gorgeous Blue October Sky?!! Fabulous! I just know all of you are having a wonderful time too!!

Friday evening Mr. Bunny and I had our anniversary, we have been together for 24 amazing years.  We had plans at a lovely restaurant in Manhattan but due to 50 mile winds and a fear of stranding our 3 sons alone at our farmhouse in the Country I decided to postpone it and quickly threw together a romantic dinner for 2 at home.. (Our sweet teenage sons watched Oliver while my husband and I spent hours together completely uninterrupted)  I must say it was one of the best anniversaries I have ever had, and we have had some incredible ones spent around the world.  There really is no place like home.

Check out the gorgeous Tiffany blue tablecloth, I bought it on sale in Vermont for $5!!! It is so gorgeous, very thick and lined with white around the bottom. The chairs are kept stacked and stored in my ‘prop-room’ on the 3rd floor and get used on occasion when I do parties for clients. The flowers are silks because they went better with the table design than the fresh flowers that were in my kitchen and garden room.  The Haviland dishes are wedding gifts, The stemware was purchased in Manhattan at ABC years ago. The flatware is just a simple modern design from Colin Cowie. The rock crystal votives are from Vivre, the napkins are Kim Seybert. I just love eating in front of books, feels very ‘Manhattanish’ to me.

I served an incredible White Chocolate Cheesecake, Steamed Lobsters in an herbed Butter with herbs straight from The Paris House Garden, A simple Cesar Salad (I used Tyler Florence recipe but I added Worcestershire sauce), Roasted Sweet Potatoes with sea salt and olive oil.  Delicious wine. The only thing that took time was the cheesecake. Mr. Bunny is so romantic and he always surprises me with something lovely that I cherish. Saturday night we headed to a friends home for a surprise birthday party then Sunday it was off to the Cider Mill Apple Orchard with the kids to pick up homegrown apples and apple cider to be used in a fabulous recipe I found in the Adirondacks while on vacation last week.

( I hope to be posting the recipes soon for the following:  Adirondack Apple Strudel with Gouda Cheese and Raspberry Chambord Ice Cream, Homemade Caramel marshmallow pretzel bars, A fantastic easy healthy Mexican Supper)

Tomorrow evening we are having friends and family over for a nice Monday evening dinner.  I’m serving Giada’s Lasagna, a salad, cheese, salami, olives and a great dessert. And of course a nice red wine…any good suggestions????

  8. Good Morning Michele, I loved reading this post…you continually bring us posts with romance, elegance, simplicity, beauty and intelligence. Your romantic dinner sounded and looked lovely, that Tiffany blue tablecloth is absolutely beautiful (and $5 WOW!).

You know how I love looking at your photos, and I noticed the wooden shelving you have for your glasses and how similar in design it looks to my plans for our new pantry – I found an antique piece of furniture from an old grocery store that I’m using as my inspiration – we’re still trying to decide what to call the room – a larder? a buttery? FHFB hates both names – I love coming up with new ones for him – we’ll probably stick with ‘pantry’ because it’s the easiest and most common but who knows.

Our trip to the city to experience Eataly was absolutely marvelous – what a great time! We were in the store for almost 3 hours. I’ll be posting some photos in the next day or so.

You have me paying so much more attention to local shoppes and farms – I stopped by the Village Shepard the other day and picked up three delicious cheeses and some quince paste (membrillo?) to serve with it. Along with yesterday’s purchases at Eataly my refrigerator looks absolutely wonderful – I have so many delicious meals to make for FHFB this week. Enjoy your family and friends dinner tonight – I put together a comfort food menu for Saturday night when our daughter was home – Two Barefoot Contessa recipes: Company Pot Roast and Butternut Risotto – both delicious!
    Ciao, bella!

  21. So, you just “whipped up” that last minute menu, eh? It would take me a month to pull it together! (In fact, I have one month until our 23rd anniversary–perhaps I’ll borrow your menu!)
    Your table setting was beautiful.

Happy Anniversary Bunny! Sounds like it turned out to be a wonderful evening!
Do you know…Greg was in Manhattan that night(midnight). His company was putting a building on top of the NYC hospital. The winds were horrible!! You were smart to stay close to home.
