Autumn Table Inspiration Flip Book (Made by my Son)

September 26th, 2010

I have had a constant smile on my face these days or at least it feels that way.  Just driving my children to school at the crack of dawn becomes a work of art as I look out the window at the gorgeous colors in the mountains around my home.  Heading to an event, school outing, apple orchard even a Dr’s appt. in this splendid Autumn weather where trees are in vibrant blazing  reds, oranges, rusts, yellows, greens and golden hues that can fill your heart with such joy and gratitude.  All you have to do is look around and you will see all the gifts God has given us, they are everywhere.

(I would like to thank my son, Sam for creating this flip booklet for The Paris House.  I didn’t even ask him to do it, he surprised me with it. Thanks sweetie I love you!!  Visit his blog here to view the photographs he took when he was in Europe and Asia)
I had the great pleasure of having lunch with Ann Marie ~Frog Hollow Farm Girl of the charming Frog Hollow Farm Girl Blog.  We live only minutes from each other, both in old stone farmhouses yet had never met until last Tuesday. We enjoyed a lunch at our local brew pub in the warm September sun, it was as if I had known Ann Marie for years!! Frog Hollow Farm Girl and her husband Frog Hollow Farm Boy enjoy time spent with their family and friends, tending to their gardens, cooking, traveling, working on their farmhouse and living a healthy creative life much like Mr Bunny and I try to do.  I find everything they do to be so inspirational.  It was so wonderful to have met her in person, I could have sat and chatted all day long but I had to get to car line to pick up my sons from school.  I can’t wait to get together again soon.  Ann Marie wrote to me after our luncheon and she said that in person I was exactly like I am on my blog and that made me so happy to hear.  If there is one thing I want people to feel about me is that I am kind. The sweetest words from someone just make you want to continue on being a nice kind person and hopefully making others happy along the way. Ann Marie was also in person just as she is on her blog full of life , great stories, kindness and happiness.  Through blogging I have now met nearly 10 bloggers in person and each of you has touched my heart in a very special way.

I would love to leave you with our Sunday Dinner Menu at The Paris House:

Autumn 20106
Daniel Boulud’s Ribeye Steaks in herbs, Iceberg lettuce with gorgonzola cheese, A selection of Cheeses, Salami, Italian crackers, Soft Gorgonzola cheese drizzled with white truffle honey.  ( Miele Tartufo Bianco TartufLanghe Italy, imported by Crystal Food in Lynn MA).  The Gorgonzola and truffle honey was my favorite thing I ate all weekend TDF. Dessert was a Homemade Apple Pie I used a Martha Stewart recipe. The kids had chocolate and caramel dipped apples that were decorated with candy corn.

Hello Bunny… once again, I am totally enchanted with your Autumn posts! I love all the things you describe too… and it is beautiful in Centerville now as well… how fun you met a fellow blogger who lives so close to you, and you share so many of the same loves… (where are the pictures though???)… my instincts about the people I meet are usually right, and I know without a doubt, you are one of the kindest people in the world! I also love that your family comes first in everything… what a wonderful surprise your flip book was from your son, it is amazing!… wishing you a beautiful Autumn day, lots of love and smiles… xoxo Julie Marie

Divine! A beautiful book! Maybe he will be an Editor/Writer? Was a beautiful Saturday at ab apple orchard…in the 80s…Now the rains…but they are so good for the garden!!! YEAH…we’ll have to plan some inside fun…blogging, designing, cooking…I saw a recipe for Pear Cobbler…& must make some apple sauce from the apples we picked.
    Can I come for dinner? Wink ; you should open a B & B!

Have you ever had Macoun Apples…they are divine too!!!

    Warmly, Jennifer aka gigi

  3. I liked your coffee bar with the desserts. Had to laugh when you said that you would drink coffee all day long, I thought…well, that would work just fine because I would eat the desserts all day long….you’d come out on the better end of that deal. Thanks for stopping by my post. The Rosenthal goblets are no longer produced. Currently there are some on eBay, and there are some on Replacements.com. You would definitely enjoy them; they are a great size, and they work with so many different things. Come visit any time. Cherry Kay

  4. Sending a sweet hello from Frog Hollow Farm! I’m so happy to finally be sitting down and catching up on reading my favorite blogs! Your first sentence just made me smile, and I could tell how truly happy you were feeling when you wrote it!! It’s really the simple things that make us the happiest; sometimes it’s just hard paying attention and seeing them all! Sam’s flip booklet is so fantastic – I’ve never seen one on anyone else’s blog!! He is truly talented and sounds like a wonderful young man. Of course I love all of your autumn decor and that menu sounds just scrumptious! How lovely for you to take the time to mention our lunch together, and having the opportunity to meet Dorkalicious in the future sounds like it would be a hoot! I’m off to Kurt’s Body Flow class tomorrow morning and then to Morristown to shop for a rug for the big room, and then more studying for that exam. I’m starting to resent spending the time indoors studying with the beautiful weather we’ve been having. If I tried studying outside I know I’d be so distracted that I’d end up taking a bike ride or gardening instead of studying! Ciao, bella!

  6. I love your little flip book, that looked great.
Wonderful dinner. Mr P and I had stir fry lol (a far cry from your luxurious spread). Everything looks fab.
Love your cake stands in the kitchen. I have one big one. But i love cake stands. If i could I’d have a hundred of them… all filled with cake… my cakes (not hubby’s). :D

Hi, Bunny. You brought back poignant memories for me of driving my son to school when he was younger — in middle school and high school before he got his car. Even though some of those drives were filled with a few mother/son fights (!!), they were more often than not filled with great talks for the 8 miles to school. I miss those times so much! And yes, they were the best in the brisk mornings of Autumn…
And: Your flip book made by your son is very impressive, please tell him for me!
Enjoy the crunch of the leaves!
    Best,
    Gloria

The flip booklet is wonderful! Many thanks to Sam!

I miss fall…I’m counting on you to keep me in the mood. Still so hot down here!

Your Sunday dinner menu and photos were YUMMMMM. I’d love the gorgonzola with the white truffle honey.

  10. Bunny, you are an icon! You know what makes one an icon? They are so unique in the things they do and who they are that they are the original and all the rest are just copies! Your style is so unique and “Bunny”. Each time I come to your beautiful blog I am amazed at your panache mixed with gentle kindness. It flows through everything you do! You zest for life and living the “Bunny way” is absolutely charming and so very chic!
I loved your narrative about meeting Ann Marie. I bet you had the most fabulous time. Maybe someday our paths will cross! Wouldn’t that be fun?
    Blessings,
    Yvonne

Beautiful flipbook – your son obviously takes after you in the creative talent department!

Your setting has a lot of similarities to mine, this week – I just adore your dishes. Too bad we don’t live next door to each other, so we could mix and match our plates for parties!! I also have a stuffed pheasant, who will be appearing in future tablescapes.

Thanks so much for the great post!

  14. Oops – that Anonymous comment above was mine – I hit the submit button before putting in my name!

  16. Bunny, how I wish I would live closer to you. I have the feeling we’d be such wonderful friends, and not just because I’d be so adoring of your talents, but also because you are so sweet. Hugs and love to you!
