The Big BANG and Giveaway: A Set of Strip Tease Cocktail Glasses!

July 6th, 2010

File0160

Wow what a wonderful Fourth of July!!  It was filled with Family, Friends, Food and Fun.  We went to parties and hosted parties at our Home.  From ‘Country Gatherings’ on our old wrap-around-porch to high heels, Retro cocktails and Vintage Designs out near our pool in the evening.  There were lots of fireworks that were watched from high up above on our balcony as we do each year and our annual ‘firework run’ across the border supplied the ‘The Big Bang’ late  into the dark night sky.

DSCN4765Here is our menu, which can be made and enjoyed all Summer long, I will link and list as many recipes as possible.  Please email me if there is something not listed or linked to that you would like to make.

Summer Menu ( some of these items were enjoyed at night and some by the pool for lunch)

Grilled White-Clam Quesadillas, Steamed Clams in a Garlic Herb Butter, Chez Panisse Proscitutto Goat Cheese Calzones, Grilled Corn and Fresh from the Garden Basil Salad, The Most delicious Pork Baby Back Ribs, Smoked Turkey Muenster Conserve tea sandwiches, A melange of shish Kebabs perfect for meat eaters, vegetarians etc., Smoked Salmon herbed Cream Cheese on Veggie Chips, Country Potato Salad, The best fruit Mascarpone cheese Tart I have ever tasted, Fluff Marshmallow Chocolate Milkshakes, Former Mayor Kotch’s Favorite ‘Coconut Daiquiris’

Summer 20102

The Ribs were one of Mr. Bunny’s favorites, he loves the homemade barbecue sauce I make BUT his favorite thing were the Clam Quesadallas  , he rated them a perfect 10.  They were super easy to make and the recipe was found in the New York Times this week.  This tart is his favorite dessert it is filled with a whipped slightly sweetened mascarpone cheese TDF.  The Cocktails are made from former NYC Mayor Kotch’s favorite cocktail recipe.  They were interesting and different with about 8 shots of rum in the blender……..

Summer 20104

My kids love to throw water balloons off of my balcony down to the pool.  Oliver thinks this is just the coolest must fun thing in the world.  Last week I went with the boys to PA on a firework run and we stopped by a local arcade while we were there.  I am such a townie.  I love arcades, carnivals and am really good at these games.  My sons think I’m pretty cool, they can’t beat me in ski ball.

Summer 20103

Friends stopped by morning noon and night for snacks, lunch, dinner, cocktails, swimming, fireworks and fun.  We had the front porch set where we served the adults spiked chocolate milkshakes in the afternoon.  The centerpiece on the quilt is filled with sparklers for everyone to take and enjoy.

All that food look fantastic! Even though I am from canada, my mother is from the USA and we would spend lots of time visiting family on the 4th of July with fireworks and yummy food :)

I love how everything is the colours of the flag! Even that pie has red and blue in it….very creative.

What a fabulous 4th at your house, Bunny! I am stealing your idea of fireworks in a bowl! :)

And do tell about the spiked chocolate milkshakes! I’m all ears.

Ah yes, your Mr. Bunny is a looker; lucky you. But then, he’s lucky to have YOU!

The glasses are definitely a “must have”! So adorable.

  11. Sending a sweet hello from Frog Hollow Farm! I’ve been thinking about you and wondering what you’ve been up to, knowing all along of course that you were planning a spectacular Fourth of July celebration! Your menu sounds just so delicious and I loved the pictures of your pool, such a beautiful area to swim and relax in, especially with the heat we’ve been experiencing here lately. We are planning a party for Saturday – FHFB’s office staff will be here for a barbeque on the back porch. Even with an office full of meteorologists it looks like it might rain that day!!! I hope I get to post my menu and some photos of the table, etc. My problem is that I usually have a cocktail and then all of my plans to take photos go out the window. Those stripper glasses are a hoot! I’d love to have those on my bar! Take care Bunny! Ciao, bella!

  12. Pinky says:

Good grief, that menu has me drooling all over my computer!!!!!!!! What great pictures, Oliver is a sweetie!!!!!!! Did I ever mention that my Mothre’s sister helped raise us and she was “Aunt Bunny”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She was a doll too!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, I am a follower and I love your blog! XO, Pinky

  13. Gloria says:

Hi, Bunny! It sounded like you guys had a fantastic 4th. I wish you would have taken pics of all the parties to which you went! I love seeing photos of parties. And: Yes, I would like to win the glasses, so please enter my name for the hat for when Oliver picks a winner. Now, per your request for your smile: I would like to present them to my 19 year old son as a gift from you, so that I can see him BLUSH! Or, he will most likely say, “What the heck??!!” Yes, I know, I am a terrible mother. :)
    Best,
    Gloria

  14. Aysegul says:

You definitely know how to celebrate Bunny..

  15. Oh you Funny Bunny, those glasses are a riot and would be perfect for my son’s tiki bar. Why of course my son has not one, but two tiki bars in his backyard that he made himself. Now if I could only get him to build one for The Hut, life would be good and I could just sit and sip cocktails, made from recipes supplied by my dear, sweet friend (that would be you) all day long.

I remember sparklers from when I was a child and we would run on the beach, yelling and screaming and having such fun. I know that Oliver had a fabulous 4th, as did your guests. What a spread!

Big hugs and be sure to give one to Oliver for me!

  16. Bunny, Sounds like a delightful and fun 4th weekend. Thank you for the recipes! I’ll give that daiquiri recipe a whizz!
Yummy! Always someting fun going on at the Paris House!
    Yvonne

  17. Thanks for the heads up!!!! I have been checking in on you regularly!!! It looks like a glorious summer up there. I agree, MR. Bunny is so Hot & little bunny oh so Cute!!! I can’t wait to mix up this yummy cocktail in my NEW STRIP TEASE glasses (Hint, Hint!)! The food looks divine as does the pool…. I’ve been studying up on Southern Louisiana cooking this summer, as Tripp is soon to be there at Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge (he’s working all summer as a counselor at his camp in Arkansas). We’ve also perfected our “hurricanes” (which are great in Strip Tease glasses!) in honor of that great state and the tropical depression that has set in on top of us!!! We’ve never had this much rain this time of year, but I’m not complaining! Great to hear from you!!! Keep having fun!
    xxxx kim
