Now that I have your attention please join me for a little tour of Maryland and The Amish Country in Lancaster PA. Don’t fret my pretties we will indeed get to the ‘Hot Young Amish Men’ part eventually (I can’t possibly be the only Bunny out here in the blogosphere that has a thing for the Amish, No need to worry Mr. Bunny you know I only have eyes for you) but for now I would like to try and be a bit mature, which is not always easy for me, and start with the real reason I was in lovely Mt. Airy, Frederick’s, Baltimore Maryland and Intercourse Pennsylvania and yes I am giggling while I type the word ‘Intercourse’ . In case you haven’t been in the Lancaster area, they have some very colorful names for their towns. ‘Intercourse’ being one of the tamer names.
I have met some of the most incredible ladies through blogging, but as of last week I only met them on line. Thanks to Marydon and her Husband Harold of Blushing Rose Boutique I was invited to a luncheon in Mt. Airy Maryland where I met some of the sweetest ladies ever! Sweet Sherry of Country Wings in Phoenix flew in from Arizona to celebrate her birthday with all of us!! Oliver was over~the ~moon with joy meeting his ‘Miss Sherry’ in person! My mom Jojo and Oliver joined me on my little adventure.
It was a big thrill to meet them plus several other lovely ladies in person. It was truly a weekend that I will never forget.
Thank you so much Marydon for your graciousness.

Packing for a road trip and fashion:
The weather was nice and I was so happy to wear my new Marc Jacobs dress that Mr. Bunny bought me for my trip. I wore it with red wedges from Boden. The dress is super comfy and has a fun asymmetrical neckline that ties on one shoulder. I also brought skinny jeans and sweaters for casual evenings out for Mexican Cuisine. I love sexy fitted jeans with sky high heels. I also brought some cute preppy skirts with button down shirts and more wedges for walking around Baltimore and Lancaster PA. I packed clothes that travel well without too many wrinkles. I always bring lots of healthy snacks and water for all of us to snack on and a cooler and icepacks. I am a very organized packer but I still over pack everywhere I go, even if I’m just headed to Whole Foods.
Marydon set this lovely dessert table that I thought I would share with all of you over at tablescape Thursdays.
This was was my first time in Mt. Airy, I have been to Baltimore but not to Frederick and Mt. Airy so I was very excited to explore these quaint Historic towns.
After lunch we all headed back to Marydon and Harold’s lovely home for dessert. Then it was off to meet friends in Frederick and find some of the World’s most delicious Maryland Crab Cakes. Marydon recommended The Lighthouse Seafood Deli. I purchased a lot of fresh Crab Cakes, put them on ice in a cooler and brought them home. I cooked them the other evening and they were delicious. I simply broiled them for 9 minutes and served them with a delicious salad and wine Mr. Bunny and I bought in Napa. I wish every weekday meal could be that quick, easy and delicious.
If you can’t get to Maryland you can have The Lighthouse ship you fresh Maryland lump crab meat and make your own. I also make and love Daniel Boulud’s crab recipe. see it below.

If you can’t get to Maryland and want to make some of the most delicious crab cakes ever try Daniel Boulud’s recipe for Crab cakes and Remoulade here
visit Foodie Friday for many delicious recipes and menu ideas. You will love it!!

Next it was on to Historic Frederick. We just adored this scenic town. It is filled with charming homes, architecture, restaurants and shops.
You can stop by and visit the Barbara Fritchie Home and Museum for some Civil War History. How fun are these adorable old painted homes and buildings!!
We dined out in Frederick in the center of the Historic village at La Pez Mexican restaurant and it was yummy and very reasonably priced.
Next day it was off to Baltimore to explore this fun city and take Oliver to the Aquarium.

After a busy day at the aquarium and site seeing we had a delicious lunch on the water at McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant. Our lunches were fabulous.

I ordered a fresh crab salad with mangoes, avacados, topped with greens in a lovely light citrus sauce.
It was so fresh and delicious. I have been eating very very healthy these days. I lost 6 lbs and have kept it off for the past 3 weeks. I really didn’t set out to do this, I just cut out a lot of junk from my diet and upped my workout schedule. I feel better so I am trying to keep at it. I am always looking for nutritious healthy meals that aren’t packed full of empty calories but are packed full of flavor and this is one of my favorite dishes. I will be making this throughout the Summer.
Citrus:
2 Cups of OJ concentrate
1 Lime Juiced
1/4 cup mayo
pinch of salt
pinch of cayenne
1 cup of extra virgin olive oil added in a slow stream at the end.
combine all of above ingredients, adding the evoo last to thicken/emulsify.

Next we were off to the Lancaster PA Amish Country. My mother had not been there in over 20 years so I thought I would take her. She likes places like that and I knew Oliver would find it interesting to see the young children and the horse and buggies. Not to mention all the treats that Amish bake fresh each day.
We had a great road trip. I love road trips, long plane rides, quick plane rides, train rides, boat rides, cab rides, basically any way I can travel both near and far thrills me. I always learn something new, meet new people, taste new foods, and come back a more interesting person. Travel really is what makes my life as creative and interesting as it is. I hope to be galavanting around this great World until I take my last breath when I am a very very very old lady. Our next Voyage is going to be much farther away and I can’t wait to share it with you.

Hey Bunny,
I didn’t know you were headed for our area. Glad you had a great time with your Mother and Oliver.
I’m glad to be able to get to know you better through your blog. Next time you come to Lancaster County you’ll have to give me a “heads up”. If possible I’ll try to get you in to Sight and Sound. All of you, including Oliver, would love Joseph.

Hi Bunny: What a fun time it seems you all had! It must be great to actually meet in person. The food again looks absolutely scrumptious:-) Cheers, Lia
P.S. I wish to profusely apologize for my mispelled words in my comment to your post below. I can’t spell worth a darn, but that is not excuse
sorry
What a lovely time you had! I enjoyed reading about it and the table, plus the crabcakes, looked awesome!
Bunny, It looks like you had a fun and fabulous time on your visit. I wish I would have known that you came to Intercourse. I live in Lancaster County. Just 10 miles south of Intercourse. Yes, the names are very colorful, the air can be very… interesting and it is so very beautiful. I am very familiar with Bird In Hand restaurant, but I don’t eat amish (we call it Dutchy) food too often- it is so rich and calorie laden! I am so happy you visited my area. Next time stop and visit me!
Yvonne
What a wonderful and fun trip! I’m sure you had a wonderful time and the food looks devine!!
Dear Bunny,
So great to meet you, your Mom and the adorable Oliver, and so fun to read about our day in Maryland on your blog. Your blog is terrific and I will definitely be back to visit often.
You know what? I wonder how come you always seem to be surrounded by such delicious food but you manage to stay so nice and slim. I guess you must to a lot of gym work. Anyways, please send me one of those crab cakes, I’ll send you my address

HI BUNNY,
SOUNDS LIKE YOU REALLY ENJOYED YOUR TRIP. MY FAMILY AND I WENT TO LANCASTER, PA. THIS PAST SATURDAY. WE ATE AT BIRD IN HAND, THEY HAVE GREAT FOOD, AND WE WENT TO OUR USUAL PLACES THAT WE LIKE. WE USUALLY TAKE THE TRAIN RIDE IN STRASBURG TO PARADISE, BUT WE SKIPPED IT THIS TIME. WE LOOK FOR THE LITTLE SHOPS WHERE THE AMISH WOMAN MAKE THEIR OWN CRAFTS. THEY USUALLY HAVE SIGNS OUT BY THEIR FARMS. STOP OVER AT MY BLOG I WROTE A POST ABOUT MY TRIP TOO. RIZZI
Bonjour Bunny,
That must have been so much fun meeting all your blogger buddies, and with your Mom and Oliver too. All the food and crabcakes look delicious. Sounds like you have traveling in your blood my dear. The Marc Jacobs dress does have a great neckline, I bet the red wedges looked perfect. The petie-points are so Frenchy! How exciting that your red picnic basket will be featured in a major magazine. Let us know when the issue is out. We’re planning a picnic for this weekend at Versailles – can’t wait.
Everytime I visit you here I have this urge to get dressed up, start bakiing and set a beautiful table! You have such an incredible zest for life!!
Bonne Soirée my friend and please say hello to Oliver!
Mimi
Hello there lovely lady,’Bunny’,
I am just mildly heartbroken..,Sort of.., I just posted quite a lengthy, ‘from the heart’, blog post to you Bunny and ‘darn blogger’ just bounced me out!.., (I notice it keeps defaulting to another blog; thoguh the blog is lovely, it’s frustrating as it just ‘wipes out’ and I have to start all over again!
What I was mentioning; as best I can remember Bunny, is just how delighted I was when you first visited my blog sometime ago! I am requesting that we start afresh, all over again, (whereas due to the fact that my dear mama has been quite ill over of the last few months, although thankfully she is improving, I had found that I was unable to consistently visit my dear fellow bloggers who had precuiously visited me) in as timely afashion as I would have much preferred)!..,
.., I did however visit you several times since then, though sporadically for which I apologize, as I always value getting back to folks as soon as I’m able..,
I just love your fresh and oh-so- creative, ‘joie de vivre’ and design sensibilty Bunny and I think we may find although, truly, ‘variety is the spice of life’ and as with all human beings we are in may ways naturally different from each other, yet overall Bunny, I feel we have also appear to have much in common!~I’d love the opportuniyt to get to know you better perhaps!..,
Love your post and it looks like you gals, your son and mom had a fab time in Maryland and Pen state! Love the fun details about the quirky and colourful names, the food and recipes, even the cute Amish gents!
(The other comment had more detail, yet for now I must run; hope to hear from you soon Bunny; it would be a pleasure)!.., You may also enjoy to check out our bed and breakfast web site Bunny @ http://www.blueforest.ca.., Enjoy!..,
May I also suggest that you scroll down the page of my blog to get the overall ‘flavour’; I adore the design ‘flavour’ of your blog I can tell you!~ Simply, ‘eye-candy-licious’!!
Cheers from Wanda Lee @ The Plumed Pen
What a fun trip! First with the bloggers (wow on that dessert table) and then on to your touring of the Frederick area! Love your dress BTW!
(Is there anything better than a Maryland crab cake??)
Let us know which mag your picnic basket will appear in!
Always love my visits to you, Bunny, so many interesting things to read, see, imagine!
Bunny-Yes, you DID get my attention you naughty, naughty girl. I love that the first comment is from Oliver. This sounds like such a fun trip–meeting fellow bloggers, great food, fun excursions! I am envious–thanks for sharing it.
Bunny! This looks like so much fun, and look how happy Oliver is to be with Sherry and Marydon!
He’s a doll. I love Sherry, and I’m so glad she got to celebrate her birthday with you and the other East Coast ladies. We did some celebrating in Florida, too, for Claudie’s birthday. Wish you could have been here with us. Oliver would have loved the carousel… we rode that the night of the birthday doings.
That cake table looks fabulous as do the crabcakes. YUM!
I’m taking a much needed break from working on the house. It feels good to be away from the men. I don’t have computer access in St. Augustine so I came home to blog, and I left there there working. We’ve had all sorts of things happen (setbacks) over the last two weeks, so I hope that is behind us. It’s looking good, though. I’m just whipped. Hope to be back to blogging again soon.
Love to you and Mr. Oliver and to your mom, too!
XO,
Sheila
Bunny, I goofed and hit the thing before I put my name in… it’s me Mrs. Magpie! LOL!
HI Bunny! Next time you get near Lancaster county PLEASE let me know. I go up there all the time to shop, I ma 45 mins. south os Lancaster. It looks like you had a GREAT trip. Oliver is adorable…and so is your Mom!!! XO, Pinky
That’s what was missing in my Earth Day post…vintage! And now I want crabcakes awfully bad!
What a fabulous post! You are so funny!
Looks like you had a wonderful time and how to lovely to meet some other bloggers.
Thanks for the virtual tour too. I would love to visit Amish country one day.
Best wishes to you and your beautiful family for a fabulous weekend,
Natasha.
Hello Bunny – wow, you travel like FBFB and I travel! What a wonderful post and experience for everyone involved in this gathering to have the opportunity to meet and spend time together. You wrote about so many things, I just don’t know what to comment on first. (Surprise, surprise, being and tried and true foodie it ends up being the crabcake recipe – can’t wait to try it!)
How sweet for everyone to be able to meet Oliver and your mom JoJo – she looks like a lot of fun! Visiting the Amish country can be such a peaceful experience, and I envy the simplicity of that life sometimes – I know that I’m looking for how to give back to something or someone each and every day, and the Amish seem to always be in touch with that part of life on a daily basis, don’t you think?
But I have to say, the You-Tube video was a HOOT! As I’ve said often, I just love, love, love reading your posts! Ciao, bella!
Hello Dear Bunny,
What a wonderful post! You are a funny bunny for sure.I’m still laughing.
The Amish are a lovely people. I’ve always admired them.

Hi Bunny! I’ve missed you and Oliver so much! I’m finally back as you know and just had to stop in and see all the lovely things you’ve been posting. I can’t believe you got to meet Sweet Sherry, what a thrill. I know one day we will meet, how could we not?
Love everything and that crab salad has my name all over it! Thanks for posting a recipe for Citrus Sauce, I’m going to attempt to make this myself. What a lovely trip you had to Amish Country. There is an Amish community in Sarasota, Florida and the bakeries are too good to pass up.
I looked backed and the Pastry Shoppe you set up in your studio had me drooling all over my monitor! You’re just too FAB my dear friend and I’m happy to be back in the Paris Houseland! I have to pop over to see Oliver right now!
BTW, that picnic basket is wonderful! I have a small collection, I just adore picnic baskets — even more than Yogi Bear does! lol
Hmm… Shoofly pie? I’d like a slice with some coffee. Hilarious post, Bunny. Loved your take on Amish country. I would love to visit it someday, myself.
