“I just love Stockbridge. I mean, Stockbridge is the best of America, the best of New England.”
Norman Rockwell

Hello from quaint lovely Stockbridge MA. in the Berkshires. Home of the famous Red Lion Inn Restaurant, The Norman Rockwell museum, Famous Tanglewood a cultural mecca, The Botanical Gardens, quaint boutiques, outlet shopping and lovely historic Main Street.
Here you can just stroll down the quaint streets where everyone and I mean everyone has a smile on their face.
We dined at the historic Red Lion Inn which I believe houses the original Country Curtains for all you who are country loving gals out there. Moi, I have been shopping at Country Curtains on and off for years. I lean more towards French chic antique, an English mix with a dash of Moderne a splash of shabby chic combined with my finds from all over the world…Early American Colonial style and I don’t get on too well, UNLESS it is lightened up a bit with pretty flowers and painted furniture etc. I have bits of it scattered about but I like to keep it fresh and elegant/chic. As a designer I listen to my client but guide them in a new and more interesting direction. We are doing a redo now and they looooove Country Curtains. I’m just trying to convince the ‘client’ to freshen things up and to limit the Colonial look,…bits and pieces here and there are fine, but If necessary I can even ‘Chic’ that up!! As a matter of fact we just did a redo on an old antique hosier…Our challenge was”Can we make a Hoosier look fresh and modern” We will talk about that in a post one day. I have great respect for the Pilgrims I just don’t want to live like one.
Anyway I have no idea how we ended up here. We are done with skiing and snowboarding for the season and are heading to the Bahamas and Disney soon but my two oldest sons are still on vacation and we thought ‘Hey why not Stockbridge’!!!
For this weeks Tablescape Thursday and Foodie Friday I thought I would share the lovely dishes that are hung on the wall’s Inn for impact. Grouping your collections together as oppose to scattering them about makes a strong decorative impact. I also thought it would be fun to share a fabulous recipe from the Inn. I’m not home now setting tables and cooking so I will let my travels tell the story…..
Today that story is New England with a fresh twist.

Check out that mirror and chandelier, now That is so very Paris House!!! We have many mirrors similar throughout our home and hang chandeliers everywhere. Our old farmhouse is filled with light and mirrors are all over reflecting the glow of sparkling chandeliers and candles. I like to pretend I’m Marie Antoinette roaming around my petite Trianon!! The style of the Inn is filled with antiques many of which are elegant high end pieces such as a fabulous inlaid highboy originating from England. I adored the opulent chandeliers and sumptuous red velvet fabrics throughout the inn. And of course the more gold the better as far as I am concerned especially when paired with older pieces. I love shabby and weathered paired with glitz and glamour.
The Red Lion Inn dates back to 1773, the service was wonderful and the food delightfully enjoyed by all in the old tavern. You know this Bunny Girl looooooves Taverns!! Or any place where a good cocktail can be enjoyed.
I had New England Clam Chowder, I know I know, not too daring but when in New England…. I also enjoyed a simple but wonderfully flavored grilled shrimp Ceasar Salad. I’m trying to be a good girl so I can get my 44 year old bod in a bikini and dazzle Mr. Bunny in the Bahamas. Its the only thing I miss about my 20′s, I could eat anything I wanted to and be thin now it is so much harder. Okay back to Stockbridge MA.
I have The Red Lion Inn cookbook and enjoy making the bottom recipe so I posted it for you in case it tickles your fancy…( I don’t think I have ever said ‘Tickle Your Fancy’ in my life, see I’m in that sweet New England state of mind)

Because I won’t be home for awhile I also thought this would be very appropriate for Pink Saturday. It is the loveliest shade and very yummy. I do believe it is in the Pink family.

Tomorrow we are off to Vermont and then who knows where. We are having a wonderful time but I must say I am dreaming about my Florida and Bahamas wardrobe. I have some cute new Lilly Pulitzer dresses I want to wear desperately.
A perfect outfit for a day out in New England:
Camel wool wide leg pants, a fitted black cashmere sweater, simple camel pumps, over sized pearl bracelet and a vintage estee lauder compact/necklace that I collect. I found these similar items online some are exact and some are very similar to my Stockbridge Outfit

I hope you enjoyed our quick little “World Is My Playground” tour of Stockbridge MA. Stop by if you are in the area, and don’t forget to go in the Summer to enjoy Tanglewood.

Hi Michele, sweet greetings from Frog Hollow Farm. So glad you’re having fun up in Sturbridge, how can you go wrong with great restaurants, shopping, beautiful interiors, happy people and beautiful clothes? Sounds like your CL sales are going strong – congratulations, that must feel great.
We are enjoying beautiful weather here in NJ, the daffodils are up on the bank of the pond and our duck couples are visiting once again. They’ve shown up with a dozen chicks every once in a while, but I can never figure out where their nests are. We are still planning our road trip out to Asheville, going through Charlottesville (Monticello) and coming home through Williamsburg and DC. My son has one of his portraits in the National Portrait Gallery (I constantly brag about it) until August so we want to see it one more time. Ciao, keep safe and enjoy your time away with your family!!
Hi Ollie you are so cute. I love everything about you…where did you post your comment from? Poppy’s computer?? You are a sneaky little boy

PS, time for bed we want to leave for Lake George early in the morning!
All I can say is…..I’m hungry!! My husband and I love to travel…..we’ve been to 48 states and plan on completing the other two this year…Alaska and Idaho. We will make it a point to visit Stockbridge someday. The restaurant looks awesome and I’m sure that we will find many intriguing places to visit while there. Thanks for sharing!
It all is so beautiful and romantic, Bunny. I hope you are having a good time and get to relax too. And, by the way, that comment I made about you is true. You are all that and more. Hugs and love to you!
What a lovely town. Thank you for introducing Moi to it, otherwise I never would have known. Am loving the beetroot terrine. Don’t beets give out the most awesome colour? Only I’m afraid to cook with it because my counters are white. I do hate cleaning. Anyway glad you are having fun daaaaaahling, you deserve it.
*kisses* HH
Aren’t you having the best time?? I love Stockbridge…haven’t been there for a while, but it’s charming. Such fun going with you on your travels!
Love the beet terrine. The color is magnificent!

Bunny dearest,

Thank you for all the glamour and vintage crust of this enchanting piece of American culture and landscape. Come by anytime dear.

Bonjour Bunny,
Sounds like you are all having a marvelous time. The beet terrine is so colorful, I’ll try this one out. I’m wth you on the gold, I love gilt on furniture and frames. But silver on my vanity and tabletop frames. Don’t know why I felt the need to share that…? Your Stockbridge outfit looks perfect.
Have fun with your family Bunny!
Mimi
Mhmmmmm…yummy!

Love your post. I’ve heard great things about The Red Lion Inn. One of these days I’ll get to Stockbridge. I live in Massachusetts and have never been out there. Will put it on my list.
Bunny,
I am all with you on freshening up the look of the Red Lion Inn. What a fun challenge that would be. Too neat!
Have fun!
Win Rachael Ray bake ware at my blog.

Hello Bunny, sounds like you are all having a wonderful time traveling around! Well, I never really did fit in anywhere… I LOVE Country Curtains and have had them in every home we have owned, including some of their lace valances in our current home… no glamour girl in me I guess! I have their cookbook too and love it. My home is so much more casual and yes, country than yours… so it is fun to see all of your elaborate decorating, dining, clothing, traveling, etc…. Hello little Oliver!… xoxo Julie Marie
Sorry, I typed my new email address in wrong, I had to change it all because of the JERK that hacked into it… my new one is on my blog… xoxo Julie Marie
This was fun. The recipes are fantastic. Chive oil! Give Oliver a hug.Have a great weekend!

This is just lovely. I adore the east coast, the New England lifestyle. The grandeur, respect for tradition; I long to live there and to experience all it has to offer.
That pink terrine is absolutely fabulous… I’m also travelling this weekend… Guess where… to the French Riviera! Pictures will follow, naturellement!
Oh, I just love old places full of history. And that terrine is gorgeous! Honestly, if I were in New England I’d have the clam chowder – they must do it well up there, at least that’s what I’d assume!
Where will you be in Disney? My husband is a Disneyaholic and I’ve sort of been bitten by the bug myself. We went for our honeymoon, his idea, and I was reluctant to say the least. But he insisted that if we did it right, it would be the best honeymoon imaginable. And you know what, he was right! If you have the means by which to indulge there, it’s incredible!
Hello, It is so wonderful that you are all having a great time. What a lovely place to visit. The terrine looks delicous. Hope all goes well on the rest of your trip. Cheers, Lia
G’morn, Sweetie ~ What a grand time you must be having. I love travelling, period … NE is a wonderful place, chalk full of history & gorgeous sights to see. Enjoy yourself.
Hope to see you at the ‘gathering’ next month.

I have always loved Country Curtains so I was familiar with the Red Lion Inn. How thrilled I am to see some of it and the recipes. The terrine looks lovely…a little difficult to make, but well worth the time.
Thanks for sharing, Bunny and Happy Thursday!
