Do You believe in Prince Charming or Happily Ever After??

~ I do~

sleeping beauty

I feel like Sleeping Beauty each night when I go to sleep because:

a. I love my bed.  I love sleeping in an all white bed with lots and lots of comfy white down comforters, pillows and blankets.

b. I mist my sheets with ‘Fairy Dust’ before I drift off to sleep..aka Guerlain Linen Mist

c. I keep the temperature in our room just right, not too hot not too cold.

d. I always have a good book next to my bed that helps me drift off to la la land

e. I have either a glass of wine or a cup of green tea.

f. And I always have my Mr. Bunny near me and my pitbull!

~ The morning light is streaming in~

Mr. Bunny is very kind to let me have a very very ‘Girly’ bedroom.  This is actually the guest room, the Master Bedroom is where most our guests end up staying, that and Ollie’s Sweet Dreams Room,  I love this room so much.  I think the stone walls, four poster bed and high beamed ceilings are very ‘Fairy Tale Like’

~ This room is 200 years old~

I love when the bed linens are soft and cool on your skin.  Just looking at this picture makes me want to go to bed.

~ the blanket at the foot of the bed is one of my favorites that I brought back from Ireland a few years ago.~

What is your favorite way too sleep.  Do you like the TV on?? The Lights on?? Lots of colorful blankets or all White?

I’m not a great sleeper but if I keep my Blackberry out of the bedroom, turn off the TV and sleep in an all white Bed I do sleep much better.

I have all boys so maybe I’ll make this for my nieces 3rd Birthday this Spring.  The Cake in the link above is really adorable and it looks very easy to make. At least according to the video I watched.

Speaking of Sleep, I will probably be up all night because I got a letter in the mail that Dr. R. my OBGYN for the past 20 years, almost half my life is moving to Florida.  I’m telling you I cried all day.  I’m a hormonal mess as it is today and now this!! Yikes, I love him, he delivered my kids, is a sweet Teddy Bear, caring, a great Doctor and always there for me whether it is false labor, a lump in my breast I want checked out, a UTI or my annual exam. I have been dreading the possibility of his retirement for years and as of today it has become a very sad reality.

I hate going to the Dr’s except for him, His office always brings back happy memories of Sonograms, heartbeats, six week check-ups and thankfully to this day always good news.( Its my endocrinologist that I am terrified to go to ) Oh what will I do without my sweet Dr. R. ?? I use to work around the corner from his office in my 20’s where I planned parties and events for the Medical Facilities and other Community related organizations so many years ago.  They were such happy times, it is where I had all my children.  I don’t handle change well, at least not this kind of change.  I have swollen puffy red eyes from crying, even Mr. Bunny is a bit sad.  It isn’t easy to find a Dr. like this and once you have its hard to say Good-bye.

  1. Hello Bunny… I love this post! You know me and fairytales! I want to come stay in your fairytale bedroom… especially because it is 200 years old, I will pretend I am in a castle… (which your home looks like it really is)… we don’t even have a tv in our bedroom… I have a beautiful “dream machine” that plays soothing sounds, the ocean, the wind, falling rain… sounds that lull me to sleep… since I have fibromyalgia, I have a very hard time getting ANY sleep… I like to keep our bedroom on the cooler side (hot flashes you know!)… and I drink a cup of green tea every night before bed… so sorry your favorite doctor is moving… I hate that when it happens or they retire… my dentist of 40 years (yep, 40 years) is cutting down to one day a week and I know one day he will retire… I told him he will have to put a dental chair in his basement at home… I don’t like those kinds of changes either! Thanks for your sweet comments on my posts today! Love to you… xoxo Julie Marie

  2. Hello my dear sweet friend!

You really are a queen, gosh what a lovely room and bed! The ceiling is gorgeous and what a lovely painting on it.

I like crisp cool sheets, my fluffy down comforter, my feather pillows and my glass of red wine. I was thrilled when I read that you like your wine too!

Oh Bunny, so sorry your doctor is retiring. I’m not good with change and when someone has made things that aren’t always comfortable bearable…you gain a trust in them. He delivered your three precious boys and has seen you through many things. I too had a long time doctor that retired and it’s not easy to put your trust in someone else. Sending you a big (((((HUG))))) my dear friend. Oh and girl…tell me about the hormone issues, I been swinging all over the place lately…damn hormones!!

I also wanted to thank you for checking in on me and your sweet words. Really I feel like I’m one of the luckiest ladies around. I have so much to be grateful for when so many are going through really hard times. Sometimes though, things just get a bit overwhelming and really my biggest problem is the lack of time…really nothing to fret about. I’m trying hard to keep it all in perspective and count my many blessings everyday…one of which is you and my dear blogger pals! You all have enriched my lives in countless way….THANK YOU!

    Love and hugs,
    Karyn

  3. Hi Michele, I know what you mean about losing your ob/gyn. I love my Dr. A. – my mother worked with him on the maternity ward at Overlook Hospital for many years. I remember Dr. A. lying on the hospital bed next to me watching the Yankees with my husband while I was in the next bed in labor. Sounds nutty I know but it’s a funny memory. Dr. A. always spends time with me during my yearly visits and is one of those people that I feel completely safe with. My daughter, who he delivered 27 years ago, has always used him as her gyn as well. I expect to get one of those calls from my doctor one day soon, with news of retirement, and I will panic and feel a tremendous loss – sometimes change is not so great, but sometimes it works out for the better. Hang in there.

  6. Bonjour Bunny,
Sleeping beauty and happily ever after, yes I believe in them! Your bed looks so comfy, cool sheets are so perfect along with that soft blanket. Sweet little cake, perhaps you can adjust for Buzz Lightyear for Oliver.
    Have a fabulous day!

  8. Bunny says:

Oliver, I am so happy you like it!! You know how much we love our Fairytales

  9. This is little book is just adorable. I wish I would have taken all my little books from childhood with me; my father gave everything away during my parents divorice, grrrr! Everything was was in perfect condition because I was such a careful child (my mom has a picture of me dusting my room at about 4 years of age!)

I’m trying to make my bedroom more girly, it is very much NOT and the funny thing is that I don’t even feel comfortable in that room. I’ve painted it, but it is just not there yet. The fun is to kepp trying, right?! Your husband is a dear, mine complained about the pink and stuffed animals so I removed them. Um, I think they are going back !

Bunny, You won my contest! I realized that I don’t have your address so that I can mail the package to you. Can you email it to me and I will get the package out to you!

  10. Hi Sweet Friend :) Oh Bunny, I so wish we llived closer together!!!! We are so alike, it isnt even funny! AND we both have all boys!! I LOVE fairy tales!! My mind is always in one, lol! I love all Disney stories so much! I love Sleeping Beauty because my favorite hobby (besides shopping) is sleeping! Your bedroom is just to die for!! Oh those walls and that bed, LOVE!! I love that you spray your bed with fairy dust before bed!! I love the cake too!! That is the hard thing about having all boys, we cant make them pretty things!! Thank goodness for nieces!!
I am so sorry about your OBGYN :( It means so much to be comfortable with that particular doctor especially. I hope you are able to find one that you love!!
Oliver leaves the sweetest comments!! He is such a doll!
Bunny, I want to thank you again for the beautiful birthday gifts!! I love them so much!! You are a wonderful friend to think of me like that. THANK YOU!!
    Love ya!
    Amy

  11. What gorgeous pics. Your bedroom looks so idyllic and romantic. Loving your bed too!

  12. Kristin says:

Such a beautifully fitting room for you bunny. Your bed is SO dreamy! And you have one good sport of a hubs!

  13. Bunny, this has to be, by far, one of my top ten bedrooms. Ever. Indeed, right out of a fairy tale! I love how romantic and cozy it is. It begs long stays between the sheets and sweet nothings whispered in lovely ears. Mr. Bunny is a wise man as well as a keeper, and you, my dear, beautiful Bunny are so very lucky to be so loved.
    Hugs and kisses!!

  14. Wanted to say, I am sorry to hear about your doctor moving away. Got carried away by the fairy tale of that room! Ahhh….

  15. Talia says:

Oh! I love your beautiful bedroom! Like you, I always have a good book on my nightstand. I have 600 thread count bedsheets and a positively divine down comforter. The best part of my bedroom however, is my big teddy bear of a husband. He is always so warm and I am the complete opposite – cold. He snuggles me and all is right in my world.

As for your doctor retiring. I am so sorry. I pray you will find a doctor as loving and kind as your current one. Such sadness…

Love your blog and find you to be utterly delightful…

    Hugs!

  16. Hello,
So glad to have found your beautiful blog. I adore going to bed and sleep much better here than in the city I think it is the quiet. As long as handsome husband is next to me I’m happy.

    Sleep well xx

  17. Sher says:

Ah ha! I knew we were so much alike! My master bed is also a rice carved bed, but instead of the white curtains, I have the crochet top canopy with tassels like you showed in the bed scene towards the bottom. One of these days I just may post it too!

PS: I’ve been a hormonal mess too. But I think it’s a combo of bday blues and winter season added to the mix. My sister and I always joke that chocolate is drug of choice. And laughed when we saw one of the Harry Potter movies where Professor Lupin always used chocolate for medicine.

And I do hope you can find another Dr. It’s so hard to find someone that one feels comfortable with. And finding an office that is personable and you don’t feel like you’re in an assembly line. Next! you know what I mean (hugs) Sherry

  18. What a whimsical post daaaaaahling. I loved it. I just posted a blog about sleeping today.
Sorry to hear about your doctor daaaahling.
    *kisses* HH
p.s. i love it that you use linen mist, you are divine :)

  19. I love this post Bunny!
The stone wall & the beams reminded me of a chalet in Switzerland!
I even lurrrve the phone you have there…
So sorry to hear about your hormone roller-coaster ride,

    Chère Bunny,
Oh what a delight to get a visit from you today! Your blog is absolutely gorgeous and I LOVE YOUR STYLE!!!! EVERYTHING FRENCH, MERCI!

    Do come again! Anita

  22. Jane says:

    Hi Bunny!
I am so glad you stopped by for a visit. It gave me the opportunity to learn about you through your blog. I really doubt you will have any problem with an empty nest. You seem to have so many activities going on… Your blog is delightful! And you have a beautiful family. It’s truly sad that your doctor is moving to FL. Like most of us, I hate to find new doctors. (Where in FL is he going…and will he be practicing? I need a new GYN!)

Your home is lovely! I especially love the stone walls in the guest room, and I assume throughout the house. I look forward to seeing more of your home and your adventures.

Please be sure to stop in from time to time…I love visits!
    Jane

ps It’s so cute that your son stopped by and commented on your blog.

  23. Lulu says:

    Hi bunny,

That bed does look inviting and romantic. I like to spray a vanilla lavender linen spray on my pillow. It’s heavenly. I try and read every night and enjoy a cup of chamomile tea or a cup of warm milk. I find it very relaxing.

    Great post!

  24. I must say that fairytale is the perfect description for this bedroom and I love it! My bedroom is also very girly, full of roses, a pewter candelabra, a lamp that resembles a chandelier with draping pink beads on a silver base with those candle style lightbulbs and baskets of shells, of course. My bed has a feather mattress on top of the regular mattress, so that I sink into it (reminds me of the real feather bed I slept in at my grandpa’s when I was growing up). I have 100% cotton sheets with a row of roses across the top and on the edge of the pillow cases. Next comes a pale pink blanket that is the softest one I’ve even seen and then an all white quilt with the stitches done in hearts. Pillows? Oh yes, lots and lots of pillows! I love my bedroom, it is very different from the rest of the house and is a place I love to escape to after a long day.

Bunny, after I read your email last night and then saw the news this morning on the storms, all could think of was that I hope you are all warm and cozy at The Paris House. Brrrr…I’m glad you stocked up on food and are prepared to stay in, you know how to handle that weather. Me? I’d have to change my name from Shellbelle to Popsicle! Stay warm my friend and just so you know, I absolutely adore when Oliver visits my blog! I have something special coming up for him in the next week, I’m just a little discombobulated getting ready for this move. Thank you for your support and friendship. xoxxoxoxoxo

  25. Barbara says:

I cried like a baby when my obgyn retired too! However, I found one, a woman, I like even better. So take hope.
Love your post, love your bed! Mine is a refuge too. However, I like my room cold (probably because I live in Florida) and always, always have a DVD in. Puts me right to sleep!

Sorry to say I do not believe in Happily Ever Afters, or Prince Charmings, but perhaps some of you have found them. I thought I had, but it didn’t turn out quite the way I’d hoped. But I am a cheerful, happy person and am happy with the changes life has brought me. That’s what counts…now I depend on myself for happiness and not someone else.

  26. Hi Bunny!
I cannot believe the women that painted that necklace is 73!!!!! She is just AMAZING!! It is gorgeous and will go with so many things. My hubby LOVES the smell of that body butter :) :) I so I know I will be purchasing it again teehee! I love the freshness of it, it reminds me of grapefruit!
Thank you so much again sweetie,
    Amy

  27. I’m sorry that your loosing Dr. R Bunny..it’s hard to loose a great Dr., but one that has so much history with your family. A good OB-GYN is a woman’s best friend.

Your bed is beautiful & looks oh so comfy. We were laughing last night how nice it is to be able to sleep with a blanket or two. Before we know it we will be back to sleeping with just a sheet or not & I dread that. Sleeping like that is just not as …well..restful. I love fluffy blankets and crisp sheets, the best.

Hope the new week brings all that is good.

    Hugs xx deb

  28. Oh Bunny, your bedroom is utterly charming! How nice to read about your “bedtime routines” as well, imagining you misting off your lovely bed ware. You truly are the home sweet home fairy, creating a peaceful and serene environment around you! How precious!

Good luck with “the doc file”. You’ll get over it. You’re a strong lady, after all.

Paris hugs to beautify your Sunday!

  29. Schnappy says:
