I have been a fan of Winnie the Pooh ever since I was a very very little girl, just like pink has been my favorite color for as long as I can remember…Pooh Bear has been my favorite character.
The beloved Pooh Bear was created in 1928 by A.A. Milne and has continued to be a classic in the lives of children throughout the world.
I can still be transported back in time to a magical fairy tale like place whenever I read or watch this classic with my youngest Son.
When my husband and I did “The Sweet Dream Room” for our first baby some 16 years ago, I knew it had to be a Pooh Room and now some 16 years later it still is..
Of course my boys move out of here and into “big-boy and teenage rooms” but this little sweet bedroom has remained like this for years.
We even plan to keep it like this for our grandchildren one day.
I know ‘Modern’ bedrooms are very very popular now…’Everybody’ has one, but not my little boy…he has what we call ‘The Sweet Dreams Room”. Â Our home has a lot of chic modern pieces throughout but I just love a storybook bedroom for babies and young children. Â To be honest many of our friends want to sleep here when they come to visit and Oliver then comes and sleeps between mom and dad.
We did a major addition and renovation to our home over 10 years ago and have been working on it for about 16 years now. Â The builder practically begged us to let him blow out the stone wall to make this room huge. Â I refused to tamper with the original structure of the room just to have a cookie cutter style room. Â How can you take out 200 year old stone walls just to put up sheet rock??? No thank you bigger isn’t always better and in this case we just love our little jewel of a room.

Oliver’s bed is made from very Old wood, I think a sleigh bed is one of the sweetest beds a child could sleep in.
The giant ape is from F A O t.
The old blue dresser was mine when I was a baby, we just had it re-finished so our boys could use it. All of the pieces of furniture in his room are antiques.
The shelves above the dresser are filled with souvenirs from our travels. Â We are gypsies at heart and have travelled with our children all over the world. Â It is our favorite thing to do as a family.

Ollie loves his new rocket ship toy that Santa brought. Â It is a space race and can be found on Oliver’s blog.
I hope you enjoyed a little tour of Oliver’s Sweet Dreams bedroom.
What were your favorite cartoons or characters when you were a child?

Here is a yummy recipe that I think all the ‘Pooh Bear’s’ both young or young at heart will enjoy…Nigella Lawson’s Blueberry Pancakes or simple waffles…Kid friendly, easy and delicious.

Here is Oliver in our breakfast room, a lovely place to enjoy pancakes, french toast, scrambled eggs and waffles.

There is nothing more charming that a bedroom like Oliver’s. He’s a lucky young man! Winnie the Pooh will continue to charm long after we are gone.
And I love the photo of Oliver waving while sitting in front of that divine hutch/sideboard with your gorgeous collections.
Oliver is a very lucky boy! My oldest son had a Winnie the Pooh room when he was younger too. And amazing you still have that same gorilla, Bunny! I don’t think I have any toys from my childhood days. I do have a few books, but not toys. So special
Hope you had fun on your ski trip
hugs
Sherry
Bonjour Bunny,
Oliver is such a lucky young man to have that Winne the Pooh room. The murals are marvelous – did you do them? And how right you were to insist on leaving those wonderful old stone walls.
Congratulations on the well deserved award – you blog makes me happy!
Have a fabulous week!
Hi Bonjour Romance, No I did not paint the murals…it was before I started painting and I wasn’t confident I could pull it off. Thanks for your very kind words!!
Hello Bunny! I wanted to let you know that I live near Pooh Corner, yes I promise the real Pooh Corner, in Hartfield, East Sussex. We walk there often and park in the forest at Piglet’s which is Ashdown Forest AKA 100 Acre wood! Tell Oliver I will be sending Pooh all his love!

Hi Bunny,
What an amazing room and I love Pooh too! I just love hearing about your farm house, old houses and history fascinate me. How wonderful to sleep in a 200 year old room full of the delightful Winnie the Pooh!
That rocket ship is awesome, I’m sure Oliver is really enjoying that!
Oliver is so cute….I loved his comment!
Love and hugs,
Karyn
Hello Bunny and Oliver… wow! I want to come visit and stay in that magical room… I am certain that fairy tales come true in there… how lucky you are Oliver to have such an enchanted place to play and dream… Bunny, I am sooo happy you did not have the room enlarged… there is something so enticing about a smaller space… your top ten list is just as I thought it would be, so many of the things that mean the most to you would be on my list too… xoxo Julie Marie
I would have been SHOCKED if you had let them tear down those stone walls! I love Oliver’s room and all the goodies and the memories behind them. I can see why your guests would love to sleep there and how sweet of Oliver to oblige their request. And the breakfast room? What can I say, I make amazing pancakes and would love to serve them in a room like that.
I don’t remember having a particular character that I loved when I was a child, but I did love the book The Borrower’s and always wanted them to live in my house.
Sweet Bunny, I am also not surprise that you passed that award on to all your readers, its how you roll! lol
So funny, I just got an email alert that you left a comment on my blog. Seems we were doing a virtual visit with each other. I can’t wait to hear the reactions to your shirt when you go play darts! xoxoxxoxo
What a wonderful room. It is truely fabulous, and the fact that you have kept it is even more amazing! I also adore Poo and the characters. Your home is truely loved, I can see that you put your soul into it! Happy Tuesday to you, sweetie!
Ooops, that send button just gets in the way everytime. Since you have been so gracious to pass on the award, I will post 10-things that make me happy as well! You’re a gem for thinking of everyone.
I love the Pooh room, very sweet and wonderful. I always loved the story of Winnie the Pooh and all his friends. My son loved it also when he was young. One of our memories of him is an episode of the story where it was very windy and Piglet was holding a balloon and blew away. Matt just started crying, he was so upset.
I love your home, it’s so warm and inviting.
Oliver’s room is gorgeous..:) What a fab bed!!
Toby’s baby room was Winnie the Pooh themed as well

Can’t wait to see your ski trip photos darling~

I fixed it but never know it would work with your prog now…

Love the pooh room, you can tell there was a lot of love an thought that went into it. The mural is beautiful. My favorites growing up were Raggedy Ann and Frances (the badger from Bread and Jam for Frances). I still love them.
*kisses* HH
p.s. wish i had a historic farmhouse too. Must tell Mr P immediately.
The sweet world of childhood… I would have loved having a mom like you. You do make your loved ones lives such a big doze sweeter! Your list is inspiring as well. I ‘yey’ especially to travels and creativity. So when to Paris… my house is open to you my stylish dear!
Christian Louboutin is my favorite shoe designer. Ever. And Oliver’s bed looks almost identical to my son’s. I am so thrilled that I have something in common with someone as chic as you!
Hi Sweetie!! My goodness, I LOVE Pooh bear too!!! I did my oldest son Ashton’s nursery in Pooh bear!! He is eleven now but still has a place in his heart for the ol’ bear
Oliver’s room is gorgeous!!!!!! What a dream room that is. So special, you did a beautiful job!!

Hi Michele, I love finding your new posts in my email – they are some of the few emails I look forward to seeing in my inbox! When I was pregnant with my second child in 1982, Princess Diana was designing the nursery for her first pregnancy – Prince William. I still have the torn out pages from a magazine with drawings of the nursery – which included some of Beatrix Potter’s designs. So, I did my best to copy the designs and of course included Beatrix Potter story books and stuffed animals into the room. We still have the stuffed Jemina Puddle Duck and of course, the picture books, with those adorable drawings of Peter Rabbit and Tom Kitten. We moved from that house when my daughter turned 5, and there weren’t too many changes to the room at that point believe it or not.
Most years we visit a summer house on Lake Champlain that belongs to a friend. One of the rooms has a hand painted mural of Winnie the Pooh, a pot of ‘hunny’ and a tree with a sign that says ‘Hundred Acre Wood’. The mural has been there since 1980 and is always a sweet constant during our visit.
Warm regards,
Frog Hollow Farm Girl
