Getting Ready for The Cherry Mojito Video

Stop on over Chez Moi for an afternoon of Football, friends, Fun and Cocktails.  But beware you may just be asked to star in a video with MOI..as did my friend Dorkalicious.  As soon as he walked into our home he was staring straight at a tripod and video camera with complete bar and photo shoot set up. And to think he thought he was just coming over to eat, drink and watch the game!!  Now as some of you may know ‘D’ is not a big fan of being on camera and especially not a big fan of being FILMED and having his voice and face plastered  on the web.  He was awesome and so much fun…a real natural star in the making!!
I teach classes and give presentations on a regular basis and have been for over 20 years so I’m use to it. Â But I still mess up and laugh a lot when being filmed.
TAKE ONE:- I had a case of the giggles so we had to stop filming until my ‘tee hee heeing’ stopped. ( my 13 gets so annoyed when I say ‘tee hee hee’, that I do it all the more…)
TAKE TWO: ~ We were on a roll until shaved ice went flying all over our kitchen. Â We forgot to put the blender in the machine before we turned it on and we had not idea how to turn the machine off!!
TAKE THREE: We decided no matter how many mistakes we made we would not stop, we would keep ‘Rolling’ , lets face it we wanted those darn Cherry Mojitos. Â Check us out. OF COURSE it didn’t go off without something going wrong!!!
Besides ‘Bunny’ ( Mr. Bunny never calls me Michele) he does occasionally call me Lucy because I am always involved in some hijinx. We learned through our local Historical Society that Lucille Ball and her ‘gang’ use to hang out at our home and local farmhouses near us. Â They would drive in from Manhattan for a quick getaway. Â We were also told one of the characters, Â Glinda The Good Witch from “The Wizard of Oz” lived around the corner from us. Â Who knows but I have heard this from so many people and it feels magical to be in a home where these icons may have enjoyed a Martini or Ten!! I’m doing my best to continue the partying tradition in this old house of mine!!
A Little Bit Football A little Bit Valentine’s Day

~*** A Bunny Tip~
I would DEFINITELY cut way back on the simple syrup, we followed the recipe but they were WAY too sweet. Â Next batch we added half the simple syrup and a little over 1 cup of Rum and they were great. Remember you can always add more but you can’t take it out. Â Make them and pour a little in a glass and test. Adjust as needed.

As you can see we have put up a few little Valentine’s Day Decorations. Our Fairy Lights are always on and our Bars are always set. If I had to describe my style it would be Quirky meets Traditional Chic. Â I just love to entertain. Â I can’t wait to do something fun for the Superbowl.

Mommy
I loved seeing you on the video… very precious! You really seem sweet. The drinks look nice too. You got me wanting the blackberry Champagne one now…
I LOVE it! You are way too cute for words. You don’t know how much I enjoy coming over to visit you…I know I will always find something yummy to make and inspiration for my wardrobe. I adore Valentines day…I really do wait for it all year long…after Christmas Day it is my favourite Day of the year. Hope all is well my sweet friend!
Hi Michele, thanks for posting such a great video. That Margaritaville blender looks a bit intimidating!
Loved the video! I would probably add double the rum as well, but I do like my drinks sweet so I’ll give this one a try!
What a fun video, Bunny! And with the fairy lights in the background.
And I love the stories about your (maybe) neighbors, past and present. You are one fun lady! I wish I was a neighbor!
Hi Michele, I’m back with a Superbowl recipe, well, part of a recipe, many recipes as a matter of fact.
This is a dry rub that I use on chicken wings, flank steak and chicken breast.
Mix the following in a bowl:
2 teaspoons garlic salt
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper
Use this rub on flank steak to grill for fajitas, or on chicken breast. After I grill the chicken breast and let it cool, I like to slice it and serve it on top of a bed of spicy arugula and bright red halved grape tomatoes – you can add a light vinagrette to the arugula or have it on the side for people to use as they like.
For chicken wings I roast the wings for a while, draining them before mixing the dry rub on them, then continue roasting until they are done – I’ll even broil them to make them extra crispy.
Serve with fresh sticks of celery and homemade blue cheese ranch dressing.
Thank You!! This sounds so delicious..I’m going to make steak fajitas for my husband using this rub, he will love it!!
I really appreciate you taking the time to do this
xoxo
Bonjour Bunny,
You both did a fantastic job on the video. Dorkalicious was very good sport – how did he come by that nickname anyway? Loved the LUcy sotry, my father used to call my Mother and I Lucy and Ethel – we were always getting into mischief, especially when we went shopping together!
Your Superbowwl menu looks great – no Superbowl over here in Paris for us, but that Chicken and mushrooms in pastry sounds like a winner.
I’m getting ready for Valentine’s Day too, your Sweetheart’s Supper on the sidebar is lovely!
Hello again Bunny! Sorry to double post, but I just saw your comment on my blog and had to come back to thank you for sharing your wonderful story. How romantic and so nice to see you are truly living happily ever after…
Hi there Bonjour Romance, ‘Dorkalicious’ came by that silly name because he would never let me take pictures of him and put them on my blog…he would wear sunglasses and hide behind things, so I kiddingly called him a ‘Dork” and then added the ‘ Delicious’ part because he is cute!!!
Bunny darling, I stopped at Bonjour Romance and couldn’t help but to read your romantic story…so sweet, he is a keeper and I’m so glad you are both still madly in love. Stay that way my friend and enjoy life each and every day.
Love & Hugs
Duchess
Hi Bunny,
My twins just watched the video with me….and then they were looking at Oliver’s picture
That cocktail looks yummy. I bet it was such a fun afternoon!
xxoo,
Mimi (Sam & Ross)
I have got to ask…. Is dorkalicious in the Witness Protection Program? Doe he have eyeballs???? So Super Cute, but always behind those shades!!! So mysterious!
I can’t wait to visit you and the fabulous house where Lucy and Glenda partied!! How much fun!!!!
Thanks for the great how to video. I couldn’t hear too well…. what kind of blender is that??? It looks tooo cool? Also, are the Heart swivels on your website??? I want some!
xxx kin
You are so fabulous Bunny! I’m inspired to make a romantic Valentine’s dinner for the hubs and those cherry mojitos are the perfect cocktail for the occasion!
I Love Lucy and I love this post! Ya’ll looked like you were having a great time and you hadn’t even had the mojitos yet. I’m not a fan of watching football or other sports for that matter, but I do love a good party and you give the best. I can just imagine Lucy and Ethel in a video making mojitos with you, they always crack me up.
btw, I’m so glad to hear you were happy with your Townie Tee, hoping you’ll either send me a pic or post one from your webcam. I’d love to see how it looks and what everyone’s reaction is. Thanks!
