Remembering The Great One, The Beautiful One, and The Funny One

June 28th, 2009

Michael Jackson, The Great One. I am surprised that I am taking his death so hard. I guess like millions of others World wide, we just weren’t prepared to lose a legend at the age of 50. He lived in the spotlight for the vast majority of his life, making us dance, sing, and often wonder. Thank you Michael for all the barriers you broke, for the fabulous music that my BFF’s and I danced the night away to for so many years, for sacrificing so much for your fans, it is so very clear that you loved each and every one of them. Mostly I hope you are remembered for all the charitable endeavors you worked on and enormous amounts of money you donated to them. May you FINALLY rest in peace.

Farrah Fawcett, The Beautiful One. Oh what can we say about this poster, pure beauty. How I wanted your long blond feathered hairstyle growing up, I and every other girl out there. You lived your final months in the spotlight but this time not because of a hairstyle or red bathing suit. This time you captivated us for your strength, dignity and grace. Thank you for sharing your story and helping others. As beautiful on the outside that you were it is now clear that your inner beauty is what truly shined.

Ed McMahon, The Funny One. I love telling my children about some of the TV shows that I grew up with. From I love Lucy, The Brady Bunch to The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. What great simple happy times those were, when men behaved like gentlemen and ladies acted like ladies. Ahh… no reality TV, just pure talent. I can remember spending weekends at my grandparents house when I was very young and getting to stay up late and watch the tonight show. The skits were truly brilliant, and you know this is true when they withstand the test of time and still make you and younger generations laugh hysterically. Just like Farrah’s Hair still gets copied, and Michael’s songs are still so fresh and relevant, never dated. Ed was a riot and his skits with Johnny use to have my Grandfather, Sabatine roaring with laughter. I can never think of those times and not smile. So thanks to all of you for the beauty, laughs and good times that you gave your fans and that we will remember forever.

    Hi Bunny,

Beautifully said! Farrah and Ed were somewhat expected but Michael was so shocking! Farrah's documentary was so powerful and I kept a stiff upper lip watching it until the end…it truly broke my heart!

I miss those simple happy times and the talent! Like you said, may Michael FINALLY rest in peace.

Thank you for such a beautiful post.

    Hugs,
    Karyn
