I forgot to take the “before” picture, maybe I’ll find one eventually to show the comparison. Many years ago I was given this old old old chair by an equally old old old woman (who BTW, had fabulous style!!) She didn’t want it anymore and I was a young 2o something girl who needed to furnish my apartment and I thought it had interesting and good bones. So I gladly accepted and was thrilled to have a lovely piece to remember her by…
Well the years went by….like about 20 years…three kids later and now a much bigger home that we have been working on and furnishing. My little chair sat un-repaired, un-touched and un-eventful in an upstairs hallway. I wanted it to come to life and I didn’t want to spend a penny doing it!!
I donned a mask and some plastic gloves grabbed a leftover can of gold spray paint that I used to make macaroni Christmas tree crafts with my son Oliver, and headed out towards the old Spring House out back to spray away.
I have yet to permantely put the fabric on the chair since I now have a velvet leopard piece of fabric on it, I keep switching, but I do think this lovely Pierre Frey floral is well just that “Lovely”
Try and find something to salvage today if you can. I think once you become a
rescuer of the past you will find it is so much more affordable (at times) and so rewarding to carry something old into a new world that you are creating!!
