Pretty Little Teacups filled with Chocolate Mousse

April 24th, 2009

Many say they may forget what they had for dinner but they always remember dessert. Well, what if you don’t feel like spending a fortune at a bakery during these difficult economic times. Or perhaps you love to bake and cook and there isn’t anyone out there that does it quite like you. Or maybe your like me, you have a husband, children a little business to run, pets, household resposibilities, community work, hobbies and more. There may be time to put together a healthy meal for all to enjoy but not necessarily time to gild the lily. I find these simple chocolate mousse/pots de cremes ridiculously easy and when filled in my mini teacups I brought back from Vancouver while on a voyage to Alaska, oh so adorable.
I always have baking chocolates in my pantry for a quick dessert. You can dip fruits or poundcakes in the melted chocolate, you can throw together this simple elegant dessert in minutes or you can make a ganache and pour it over vanilla icecream.
Check out your cookbooks and find a chocolate mousse recipe that works and keep it handy. Stock your pantry with a variety of chocolates, pick up a pound cake at your local grocery store, buy some fresh fruit to have in your refrigerator, I threw together chocolate covered strawberries last night while our Salmon dinner was cooking, keep vanilla icecream in your freezer. These are some simple ideas you can easily put together and you too can have dessert in a snap!
