The Cook’s Kitchen

I found this fascinating quote today:

When talking to cooks, especially well-seasoned cooks, it may not be easy to convince all that Gravy Master can be a good thing and sometimes a necessary addition to gravy. This seasoning and browning sauce has been around for years and I have seen some of the most fabulous cooks not only sneak it into their gravy and sauces, but unabashedly and proudly add it like it were a fine French accoutrement that is necessary to the outcome of their dish. Well, I must admit that every now and then my dear old stand-by Gravy Master makes it into some of my finest sauces and gravy’s. We were recently up at my parents’ house for Christmas. My Mother is many things, but a gourmet cook and domestic goddess is not among them. Don’t worry, she takes no offense to this–in fact, we all get a good laugh about it, including her.Mrosenthal, The Cook’s Kitchen, Feb 2009
